The Concept behind Ani Jewelry
When a woman wears any of the jewelry I have created, I want her to feel like it was made especially for her. I enjoy making one of kind pieces because of its uniqueness and originality. The reason why they are one of a kind is because all of the focal beads, pairings, and beading patterns are never the same. The "no two stones are alike" concept is so true. For me, there is nothing like having the confidence that no other person will have a jewelry piece like the one you are wearing. This knowledge tends to lead to a bit of an attitude so wear it well.
I use sterling and copper because they are enhancing metals. They enhance the holistic qualities of each gemstone. Each piece of jewelry comes with a written description of the meaning of each stone, its power and why I chose those particular materials. Even if you are not a believer in the strength of wearing certain gemstones, wearing my jewelry will make you feel good all over. This is a reward all in itself. I chose Balinese copper and silver for its subtle ethnic look; I wanted Ani (ah-nee)to have a bohemian feel. I love the fact that the gemstone I use come from all over the world. The Swarovski crystals give it just flash to make you feel like you are the center of attention.
Ani means beautiful in Hawaiian. So why should any woman who wears a piece of my jewelry feel any different? I believe Ani brings out that little something in every woman.

Ani by Mimi
I never considered myself a designer, but in 2008 I had an artistic awakening. I walked into a gallery in Downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia not really knowing what to expect. What I focused in on was some uniquely designed necklaces. There were two pieces I felt were made especially for me so I purchased them. I received many compliments from women who noticed me wearing them. It was at that moment I decided I wanted other women to feel the same I did when I wore my jewelry.
I went to a local bead store, purchased everything I would need to make a necklace, brought it home and went to work. I sat in the middle of my family room with a small lamp spotlighting my work area, threw the beads on the floor and waited for inspiration. My boys were running around tripping over my silver Bali beads, the room was extremely noisy, and I began wishing for a Calgon moment.
The different colors of the gemstones reminded me of an Indian sunset. This was all of the inspiration I needed. By the time I was finished, I created a piece of art in the form of a necklace. Gemstones and Balinese sterling silver became the perfect medium for me to create jewelry to make every woman feel like she is a goddess. I recently added copper to my venue and these creations are amazing. They remind me of a Greek or Roman goddess; truly vintage.
Every woman is Ani to me. All of my jewelry is one of a kind. I love what I do and I put this same passion into every piece of jewelry I make. I am Mimi and this is what I do.
